Appearance: Sokka is about average height for his age. His skin is a light brown like the rest of his tribe, probably on par with what's average for native Alaskan Indians. He has a young face with brown hair and eyes. He hair isn't very long, but what there is of it, he ties back in a short pony-tail (or rather a "warrior's wolf-tail" as he calls it). If untied, his hair just has a tendency to flop everywhere. His normal outfit is a blue tunic lined with white fur and blue pants, it's an outfit that is supposed to have a large parka over it, but since Sokka doesn't spent much time at the South Pole where he was born anymore, he rarely wears the parka. He has a sling over his back that holds his backpack in which he keeps a boomerang, sword and other supplies. Finally, he wears tall boots, best designed for walking through snow in.
Personality: Most people would describe Sokka in one word: sarcastic. He's always ready with a quip or a dig no matter what the situation is. This is born out of Sokka's perception that everything bad always happens to him. Whether he's being sarcastic or not though, you could definitely not describe Sokka as "quiet." He's always ready to speak his mind on what's going on, whether that's a good idea or not. At times he tries to be more positive with his jokes, but usually no one gets them, a trait inherited by his father.
Abilities/Strengths: Although lacking in elemental powers such as the ones his sister and friends have, Sokka makes up for it with a natural bravery and calculating mind. Often underestimated because of his bombast, when Sokka sits down and thinks up a plan, the results are rarely bad. He helped plan multiple invasions of the massive Fire Nation, no small feat for a boy of his age. A committed carnivore, he is a skilled hunter and survivor, as well as having some manner of fighting skill when it comes to the sword and the boomerang.
Weaknesses: Sokka's overconfidence can sometimes be his undoing and he has a tendency to bite off more than he can chew. When a hitch appears in his plans, he's not always the most skilled at adapting to the circumstances. His big mouth is always getting him into trouble. While he does have some skill with the sword and boomerang, his training in both departments was abbreviated, and he comes up short against a truly skilled opponent.
Notable Possessions: Sokka never goes anywhere without his boomerang and sword. He also keeps his old parka rolled up in his backpack, as it can double as a sleeping bag in a pinch.

History: Sokka grew up on the barren icebergs of the south pole of his world. His mother was killed during an attack by the aggressive fire nation while he was a young boy. This in turn led to most of the men of his tribe leaving to go fight in the war against the fire nation. Sokka was left behind, along with his waterbender sister, Katara, in the care of his grandmother. As the oldest boy left in their small village, Sokka saw himself as the village's sole protector, and spent a lot of time training in case of a Fire Nation attack.
At the age of 15, Sokka and his sister found the frozen body of the last airbender, and the world's avatar, Ang. Sokka didn't get along well with Ang at first, not believing that his bison could fly and then blaming Ang for accidentally signalling the Fire Nation to their village's location. when the Fire Nation attacked, Sokka did as much as he could to fight the firebenders, but eventually was defeated, and would've been killed had Ang not shown up and allowed himself to be taken prisoner. Sokka then helped his sister rescue Ang, and the three of them set off on a journey to the other water tribe at the North Pole to seek a waterbending tutor for Ang and Katara.
The journey to the North Pole was arduous, but along the way, Sokka met Suki, a member of the all-female Kyoshi Warriors. She helped squelch Sokka's misogynistic tendencies, and also trained him a bit. Along the way, Sokka began to develop feelings for her, but couldn't stick around as he had to continue his trek to the North Pole.
When they finally made it, Sokka was happy to finally be in the company of other water tribe warriors. While there, he fell in love with the Northern princess, Yue, despite the fact that she was already betrothed. They had a secret relationship until Yue sacrificed herself to save the moon spirit. To this day, Sokka still thinks of her.
Leaving the north, Sokka and company set out to try and discover a way to bring down the Fire Nation. It was Sokka who discovered the Fire Nation's weakness, that they lose the power of waterbending during a solar eclipse, and helped plan an invasion to take down the Fire nation during the next solar eclipse.
Sokka began to feel around this time that he wasn't contributing enough to the time and sought training in swordplay from a sympathetic Fire Nation sword master. He trained Sokka and helped him forge his own sword out of a fallen meteorite.
When it came time to invade, the Fire Nation took countermeasures and unfortunately the plan failed. But along the way, Sokka learned Suki's fate and that she was being held hostage in a Fire Nation prison. In a daring raid, he rescued her as well as his father, who was also a prisoner there.
Soon after, Sokka and his friends to finally take down the Fire Nation once and for all.
It was after this victory that Sokka was taken to Econtra.
